Once a campaign is sent, you can view campaign analytics to analyze the stats of your email campaign. In this help article, we explain the stats we record and how to interpret the stats

What stats are available?

Recipients

Recipient count shows the number of contacts that are in the list that has been used to send the campaign. For non-continuous sending campaigns, this number will not change once an email has been sent. For continuous sending campaigns, as contacts are added to the campaign after the initial send, the number of recipients can increase.

Delivered

The delivered percentage shows the percentage of contacts from the recipient count to whom the email campaign has been delivered.

Opened

The opened percentage shows the percentage of contacts from the recipient count who have opened the email. You can enable or disable open tracking by clicking "Settings" in the Campaign Content tab.

Nexl Engage uses tracking pixels and URL redirects to track when a recipient opens a message. By default, the open tracking pixel is added at the bottom of your email to mitigate possible impacts on email design.

Note:

  • Note: Text-only emails will not track opens. Opens are tracked by including a transparent .PNG file that will only work if there is an HTML component added to the email.

  • Many email service providers disable images by default, meaning this data will only show up if the recipient clicks on the display images button in the recipient's email.

  • It's also worth mentioning that many companies use third-party tools such as Mimecast or other tools that automatically open emails. We make attempts to detect these opens and remove those from Open tracking, but it's not always possible to distinguish these automated email opens. Similarly, sometimes genuine email opens can be counted as emails opened by third party tools. As such, there is always a risk that the open rate is not 100% representative

Clicked

Clicked percentage shows the percentage of contacts from the recipient count who have clicked a link in the email. You can enable or disable click tracking by clicking "Settings" in the Campaign Content tab.

When you enable click tracking, links will be overwritten and point to our provider, Mailgun's servers, giving us the ability to track. You can filter by URL link that has been clicked by going to "Filters" and entering the link on the Clicked Link field.

Note:

  • It's worth mentioning that many companies use third-party tools such as Mimecast or other tools that automatically click links in emails. We make attempts to detect these clicks and remove those from click tracking, but it's not always possible to distinguish these automated email clicks. Similarly, sometimes email clicks by email receivers can be counted as bot clicks. As such, there is always a risk that the click rate is not 100% representative

  • When a recipient opens an email, clicks a link, and then reopens the email again but does not click on any link, the Latest Status column will show as 'Opened.' However, since a click event has already been recorded in the past, the contact will still be listed under the 'Clicked' section in the Campaign Analytics tab.

Failed

Failed percentage shows the percentage of contacts from the recipient count to whom the email was not delivered. Delivery failures can happen due to both hard bounces (permanent failures), and soft bounces (temporary failures).

  • Hard bounces (permanent failure): This is based on the following criteria:

    • The recipient is not found

    • The recipient email server specifies that the recipient does not exist

  • Soft bounces (temporary failure):

    • Email is not delivered because the mailbox is full or for other reasons.

Unsubscribed

Unsubscribed percentage shows the percentage of contacts from the recipient count who have unsubscribed from future campaigns by clicking the unsubscribe button in the campaign.

We use domain-level unsubscribe which means that once a recipient selects to unsubscribe from the domain, we will mark the contact consent status as unsubscribed and we will not send any emails to that recipient again if you send future campaigns using Nexl Engage.

Skipped

Skipped percentage shows the percentage of contacts from the recipient count who have not been sent the campaign. We prevent sending campaigns to previously unsubscribed or bounced contacts as well as contacts that are marked as high risk during list cleaning. These contacts are listed under Skipped status.
