Internal links in an email template are hyperlinks that direct readers to specific sections or content within the same email. This can be particularly useful for lengthier emails containing multiple topics, allowing recipients to jump to their area of interest effectively.

Benefits of using internal links:

  • Enhances email usability by improving navigation.

  • Increases user engagement by directing attention to featured content.

  • Reduces scrolling, allowing users to find information quickly.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1: Identify the sections

Outline Your Email: Before adding an internal link,, outline the different sections or topics of your email. Determine which areas you want to link to.

Step 2: Create anchor points.

Add Anchor Points. In your email content, create "anchor" points where you want users to jump when they click the internal link. This can be achieved by adding a unique HTML ID attribute to the relevant sections:

  1. Insert an HTML content block where you want the anchor links to appear. You can insert multiple blocks and drag them to different locations.

  2. Click inside the block to open the content properties. Create the anchor link code by opening the anchor tag, adding name or id with a unique identifier, and closing the tag.

  3. Close the code with a line break.

Step 3: Create the internal links

Link to the Anchors: In the parts of your email where you want to create internal links, add a hyperlink that references the IDs from your anchor points.

  1. To link the content to the anchor, highlight the text, click the link option from the formatting toolbar, and use # followed by the identifier you set in your anchor code.

  2. Repeat the process for different links by adding HTML blocks, inserting the anchor code, and linking the content.

Step 4: Test the links

Preview and Test: Once done, click "Done." Note that changes may not reflect on a test send; you will need to schedule a send to test the links. Click on each internal link to ensure they direct you to the correct sections without issues.

Step 5: Finalize and save

Make Final Adjustments: Make any necessary adjustments to your email template layout, content, and styling to make sure it's clear and readable.

How the internal (jump) link works:

For added convenience, consider adding "Top of Page" links at the bottom of each section. This allows readers to easily navigate back to your anchor menu with a single click. However, if you prefer a simpler setup, your anchor links are already functional and ready to use.
