Nexl automatically captures Contacts you interact with via email—but what about all those connections you interact with on LinkedIn?

Although Nexl generates information about a contact's LinkedIn profile during the data enrichment process, there's no direct sync to pull all of your LinkedIn connections into Nexl automatically, or to capture your interactions with that contact within LinkedIn.

However, you can still get all of your LinkedIn connections who have made their email addresses public into Nexl, by exporting them from LinkedIn and then importing them into Nexl. Read on to learn how!

How to export connections from LinkedIn

To export LinkedIn connections:

  1. Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.

  2. Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown.

  3. Click Data privacy on the left pane.

  4. Under the How LinkedIn uses your data section, click Get a copy of your data.

  5. Select Want something in particular? Select the data files you’re most interested in.

  6. Select Connections.

  7. Click Request archive.

  8. Enter your password and click Done.

  9. You'll receive an email to your Primary Email address which will include a link where you can download your list of connections.

When you’re exporting your connection data, you may notice that some of the email addresses are missing. You will only see email addresses for connections who have allowed their connections to see or download their email address.

Tip: If you want to easily search for or identify your LinkedIn connections on Nexl, add a column called Tags to your export spreadsheet, and add a distinct tag to all rows (such as '[Your Name] LinkedIn [Date]').

How to import LinkedIn connections into Nexl

Note: You need to be an Admin user in order to import Contact and Company lists into Nexl. If you have an individual account and would like to import your list of LinkedIn connections, please contact an account Admin user.

Admin users have the ability to import Contact and Company lists. In order to add your list of LinkedIn connections to Nexl, you will want to import it as a Contact list using the steps below:

  1. Click the Admin button in the top left corner to open the Admin menu.

  2. Select Import from the dropdown menu.

  3. Click the Import Contacts button in the top left corner.

  4. Click the Select File button and open the LinkedIn export file.

  5. Confirm that the row highlighted is the your header row, i.e. the row that contains all of your column names. If the wrong row is selected, click the number of the correct row on the left side of the spreadsheet. Once the correct row is highlighted, click the Continue button.

  6. On the next screen, the file importer will try to match the titles of your columns to the correct fields within Nexl. Use the dropdown next to each column name to select the correct field. If there is data you don't want to import into Nexl, hover over the right side of that row and click the Exclude icon. Next, scroll to the bottom of the screen—if there is any excluded data that you do want to import, click the name of the column. Once all of the columns you want to import have been selected and matched to the correct field in Nexl, click the Continue button.

  7. If any entries have errors, click the Errors tab to review and update the records. Most often, Errors occur when there is no email address associated with a contact, or if there is a typo in the contact's email address. Once you have reviewed the data, click the Save and finalize button.
