The image editor in Nexl Engage gives you two powerful tools for controlling how images look in your emails and pages: Resize and Crop. Both are accessed through the Apply Effects option in the Image Properties panel.
Resize vs. Crop: What's the Difference?
Resize changes the overall dimensions of the image — making it bigger or smaller — while keeping the entire image visible. Use resize when you want the whole image to fit a specific space.
Crop cuts away the edges of the image so only the part you want is shown. Use crop when you want to remove unwanted areas or focus on a specific subject.
Quick Reference
Whole image fits a container → use Resize
Remove unwanted edges or background → use Crop
Both options are found under Apply Effects in the Image Properties panel

Cropping an Image
Cropping lets you cut away parts of the image you don't need. You can crop freehand or use a preset aspect ratio.
Steps
Open Apply Effects and select the Crop tab.
Drag the crop handles on the image to define the area you want to keep.
Optionally select a preset aspect ratio (e.g. 4:3, 16:9, 1:1) from the toolbar above the image.
Click Apply to confirm the crop.
Tip: Use the grid line to get proportioned images.

When to Use Resize vs. Crop
Use this guide to decide which tool fits your situation:
You want the entire image to fill a content block → Resize
You want to focus on a subject and remove background → Crop
The image looks stretched or squished → Resize with Maintain Aspect Ratio
You need a specific shape like a square or 16:9 banner → Crop with a preset ratio
